Winter 2012 Parent Academy Schedule Available 

Montgomery County Public Schools' Winter 2012 Parent Academy Schedule is available. Interested parents can register online, by mail or fax, and by phone.

For January, the schedule includes: 

Navigating the College Application Process | Jan. 18, 7-8:30 p.m., Seneca Valley High School 

Did you know that students begin their future career in high school? Did you know that students can earn college credit for several high school courses or programs? Did you know that students can earn nationally recognized industry certification? Learn about several state approved programs of study that satisfy the career development graduation requirement.

Curriculum 2.0 | Jan. 24, 7-8:30 p.m., Clearspring Elementary School, 9930 Moyer Rd., Damascus

Curriculum 2.0 has been developed to create a more exciting learning experience for students in Grades K-2. Built upon the existing Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) curriculum, Curriculum 2.0 blends reading/language arts and mathematics instruction with lessons in science, social studies, music, art, and physical education in a way that spurs creativity and critical thinking skills. Come learn about the new curriculum at this session.  

Anxiety in Children and Adolescents | Jan. 25, 7-8:30 p.m. North Bethesda Middle School, 8935 Bradmoor Dr., Bethesda

Do your children or adolescents suffer from anxiety? An NIH psychologist will take you through the biology behind both normal and excessive anxiety and discuss interventions that can be used at home and in school.

Computer Smart (part 1 of 5) | Jan. 30, 6:30–8:30 p.m., Earle B. Wood Middle School, 14615 Bauer Dr., Rockville

Explore the MCPS website and online resources, set up an Edline account, and learn about Microsoft Office programs in this beginning-level workshop. Facilitated by an MCPS technology teacher.
