A New Park for Germantown, a Fire, African Art and So Much More

See a summary new for the week of Oct. 11-15.

We started the week looking back at the festivities at the Butler's Orchard Pumpkin Festival. If seeing the video makes you wish you were there, don't fret, the festival is going on every weekend in October.

We also reported on the story of Northwest Alum Ike Whitaker's return to the field as assistant coach. We walked the red carpet Monday night to see the homecoming attire of the ladies and gentlemen of Seneca Valley High School. Check out our photos from the event!

Later, we heard the fascinating story of local activist Betty Valdes, who will be inducted into the Human Rights Hall of Fame on Oct, 24. In other news, the county council designated the Montgomery Business Development Corporation (BDC)  as the county's business development corporation at Tuesday's meeting. We also saw the plans for the long-awaited urban park to be in Germantown Town Center. See a detailed map and description of the plans!

Montgomery County Fire Capt. Oscar Garcia sent a sobering message to residents, on Tuesday, about precautions to take in our homes after one house fire in Germantown resulted in $10,000 in damages.

Later, the seventh graders of Roberto Clemente Middle School showed off their talents through their African art project display

On a sweeter note, we tested out the recipe for a yummy pumpkin custard pie. Now you try!

Also, don't miss out on your chance to get the answers to your burning questions for gubernatorial candidates Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. and Martin O'Malley. Send in your questions and let us get the answers in our one-on-one interview with them.

Have a great weekend Germantown and stay tuned for more!
