This "cat burglar" is in Montgomery County Police custody.

The alert went to Montgomery County Police’s 2,398 Twitter followers Thursday afternoon—its importance amplified by the all-caps display, BREAKING NEWS.

“… MCP Arrests Cat Burglar #catburglar”

Here’s your cat burglar, folks: Perry Jane, the feline companion of Montgomery County Police Officer Janelle Smith, a police spokeswoman.

“We just call her Jane,” said Smith’s colleague, Officer Rebecca Inocenti, who helped set up the photo Thursday. Innocenti said the two had been planning “operation cat burglar” for a month.

“No cats were harmed,” Innocenti said. “She got kitty treats afterward.”
