Damascus Woman Dead After Mack Truck, Sedan Collide
Police are asking for witnesses to help determine cause of the crash.
A 65-year-old Damascus woman was killed Tuesday morning when her sedan crossed the center lane and ran head-on into a Mack truck on Rte. 108 near Laytonsville.
Montgomery County police have not determined a cause, and are asking anyone who witnessed the collision to call 301-840-2435.
The collision occurred at around 10 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Olney-Laytonsville Road and Riggs Road. A green 2004 Kia Spectra—driven by Dorothy Eisel, 65, of the 10500 block of Tralee Terrace in Damascus—was traveling eastbound when it collided with a blue 2002 Mack refuse truck heading in the opposite direction.
The Kia “crossed the center lane and that’s where the collision occurred, but it’s unknown why,” said Lucille Baur, a police spokeswoman.
First responders pronounced Eisel dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, Charles Edward Mickle, 44, of Rainbow Arch Drive in Clarksburg, remained at the scene. He has not been charged in the incident.
