Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington’s Germantown Branch received a $10,000 grant from the Comcast Foundation, the charitable arm of Comcast Corporation.

The grant was awarded for the B&GC’s Club Tech program, the foundation announced on Thursday.

Club Tech comprises a broad range of supervised workshops that enable young people to learn how to use Microsoft Office applications while improving skills in math, science and the arts.

The local Boys & Girls Club was among three to receive grants from Comcast Foundation, which awarded $45,000 to Montgomery County groups with programs aimed at expanding digital literacy and promoting community service.

The other grant recipients were:

• CentroNía received a $20,000 grant to improve the technology infrastructure of the early childhood classrooms at the organization’s Takoma Park site. CentroNía serves more than 150 primarily low-income, Spanish-speaking children in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, working to improve their school-readiness.
• Silver Spring-based Passion for Learning received a $15,000 grant to launch its Dig.Lit After-School Program, which integrates reading and writing literacy with technology and digital literacy skills for academically at-risk middle school students from low-income families.
