How do you feel about the federal shutdown?

Nearly 50,000 federal employees work in Montgomery County.

As the shutdown of the federal government looms, we asked commuters at the Germantown MARC station how they felt about what could soon be the government's fate.

According to figures provided by Kristina Ellis, spokeswoman for Montgomery County's Department of Economic Development, there 49,00 federal workers who work in Montgomery County and 19 federal agencies  and research groups that call the county home — including the U.S. Energy Department in Germantown.

Debates over the budget have careened toward a stalemate on Capitol Hill. The government will shut down midnight Friday if Congress doesn't agree on a budget or pass a temporary funding bill.
