Metrorail News: Red Line Weekend Track Work
Déjà vu: Buses replace trains between Grosvenor and Friendship Heights again this weekend.
Just as they did last weekend, buses will replace Red Line trains between the Grosvenor and Friendship Heights Metrorail stations this weekend—between 10 p.m. Friday and closing Sunday, according to Metro's website.
The track closure will "allow for rail renewal/replacement, structural repairs, tunnel leak mitigation and related improvements," Metro reported.
The Medical Center and Bethesda stations will be closed, and Red Line trains will operate in two segments: between Shady Grove and Grosvenor, and between Friendship Heights and Glenmont.
Trains in those segments will operate every 10 minutes between 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., and regular weekend intervals at other times.
Passengers travelling through work zones are asked to allow an additional 30 minutes of travel time.
