Pedestrian Struck by Truck on I-270

Man transported to hospital with traumatic injuries; portion of highway closed

A pedestrian was struck by a truck traveling south on Interstate 270, near Old Hundred Road in Clarksburg.

The victim, an adult male, may have been tending to a disabled vehicle. He was transported to the hospital with traumatic injuries, according to Cpt. Oscar Garcia, a spokesman for Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service.

Garcia said rescuers were dispatched at around noon. Montgomery County Police and Maryland State Police were investigating the incident.

A portion of the highway was shut down, though as of 1 p.m. southbound traffic appeared to be moving slowly, Garcia said.

Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.
