PHOTOS: Artist Trading Cards a Big Hit Art League Meeting
The Art League of Germantown hosts their first meeting of the year.
With 35 artists in attendance, the Art League of Germantown took part in one of the biggest movements in art, Artist Trading Cards (ATC). “ These cards are very popular on the internet”, said Lynne Oaks, founder of the Art league of Germantown. “ We have an assortment of artists, so for those who aren’t painters this is something new for them, something to expand their horizons.”
This Art League meeting held at BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown encouraged members to venture outside their comfort zone. “This is a great time to experiment with new media”, mentioned League President, Jeanne Sullivan, “Don’t worry if you don’t know how to draw or paint, everyone is here to help."
These baseball card sized pieces of art are meant to be swapped and collected from other artists around the world. The idea of trading art cards originating in Europe and can be used as a gift or a sort of mail art. The cards can be made from watercolors, acrylics, oil sticks, pencils, crayons, pastels and more.
