Police: Fight Over Owed Money Ends in Stabbing, Stolen SUV
Gaithersburg man faces assault, automobile theft charges.
An argument sparked over an owed debt ended with one man stabbed and his Subaru stolen, Montgomery County Police allege.
Latyr P. Ndaiye, 31, of Gaithersburg, was charged with first- and second-degree assault, theft, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle in an incident at a Germantown gas station on July 23.
According to records obtained from Montgomery County District Court, Ndaiye and a male acquaintance had left a party in Gaithersburg and at around 1:45 a.m. had stopped for gas at the Washingtonian Gas Station at 20510 Frederick Road.
The alleged victim claimed that after he finished pumping gas, he and Ndaiye got into an argument over money owed to Ndaiye.
Ndaiye, who was sitting in the passenger seat, allegedly took the keys out of the ignition, got out of the car and started walking down Germantown Road.
Police believe the acquaintance confronted Ndaiye at Germantown Road and Shakespeare Boulevard. Ndaiye allegedly stabbed the man, returned to the man’s Subaru Outback and drove away, police say.
The victim called police from the gas station. He was treated at Suburban Hospital, court records state.
The Subaru was found damaged and abandoned in the 19000 block of Sandy Lake Drive in Gaithersburg.
Ndaiye was taken into custody on July 25 and has since posted $25,000 bail, court records show.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Friday, Aug. 17.
