Montgomery County Police are investigating a shooting Wednesday night at Brandermill Drive and Drumcastle Terrace. 

Police responded to reports of a shooting at 8:03 p.m.; a 20-year-old male was shot and another teenage male had been assaulted, Montgomery County Police Spokesman Cpt. Paul Starks said.

The shooting victim did not suffer serious injuries and was treated at a hospital, Starks said.

Starks said the people involved likely knew each other and that the incident may have stemmed from an altercation at a nearby basketball court, though the circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.

"We're still trying to determine what happened," Starks said.

Police recovered a firearm that might have been involved in the shooting, Starks said.
