Police: Seneca Valley Cheerleaders Hide in Parking Lot to Evade Strange Man

Incident occurred Monday; Montgomery County Police seeking witnesses.

A man who allegedly approached and followed two Seneca Valley High School cheerleaders after school Monday has sparked the suspicion of Montgomery County police.

A man in a white sedan and tinted windows allegedly approached the cheerleaders at around 5 p.m. near Crystal Rock Drive and Middlebrook Road as they were walking to the high school for cheer practice.

According to police, the driver attempted to strike up a conversation, but the students ignored him and continued walking.

Police said the suspect followed the girls to the school, where the girls hid in the parking lot until the driver left.

The students reported the incident to staff, according to a letter school officials sent to parents Tuesday.

The cheerleaders’ parents notified police, according to a police news release.

Police have asked for anyone who may have been in the area or may have witnessed this incident or the suspect or vehicle involved to contact the 5th District station at 240-773-6200.

Say wha? Give me a break here.... if this guy had wanted to snatch one of these girls, he would have done so.

Seems to me that people are a little too overly suspicious today, thinking that every single male who approaches a child or teenager is some malefactor intent on forcibly raping them.

It's getting past ridiculous to the point of mental illness.

Thank goodness I taught my daughters to TRUST adults until given a reason to distrust them though also giving them means to protect themselves if anyone, adult or not, tried to harm them. Namely, telling them to yell, scream, rant, rave and fight back.
