Red Line Single Tracks in Two Work Zones

Red Line trains will single track this weekend between Friendship Heights and Van Ness, and between Takoma and Forest Glen.

Metro advised Red Line passengers to add about 20 minutes of extra travel time to their weekend Metro trips.

Red Line trains will single track in two work zones:

  • Between Friendship Heights and Van Ness—to allow for track, fastener and insulator renewal.
  • Between Takoma and Forest Glen—to allow for platform reconstruction, signal upgrades and cable installation.

The work will will continue through system closing on Sunday, according to Metro.

Also, Red Line trains running between Shady Grove and Glenmont will operate every 24 minutes in each direction, according to Metro's website.

Additional trains will run between Van Ness and NoMa-Gallaudet between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, resulting in service about every 12 minutes between those stations.

Visit Metro's website to read more about this weekend's scheduled track work.
