The Hill family, of Germantown, is participating in the Rocklands Farm chick-rental program this spring.
Mom Kelly Hill says her daughters, a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old, are learning life lessons by raising the chicks, which they rented from Rocklands Farm.

It's been nearly a week since we last checked in with the Hills, a Germantown family who decided to baby chickens from a farm near Darnestown.

Mom Kelly Hill sent in new photos of the baby birds to Potomac Patch, who first reported on the family's foray on April 6.

Hill told Potomac Patch the experience had been positive for her daughters, who are 1 and 3 years old. They're learning how to handle the chicks gently — a sort of preparation for when their baby brother arrives in May.

We hope to have picture updates a few times a week, so keep checking back!
