SPEAK OUT: First Day of School Thoughts
Tell us in the comments what your thoughts are on the first day back.
Whether it instills dread or excitement, the phrase “back-to-school” is part of everyone’s vocabulary, especially as August approaches.
For many parents, it may mean it’s time to start thinking about school supply shopping, stocking the fridge for lunches and enforcing the bed times you let go over the summer.
For students, it probably means saying goodbye to the last of their summer freedoms and greeting stacks of homework and long days in a classroom.
Teachers, new and old, may be busy preparing assignments and lectures and wondering what their classes will be like this year.
However, there also is always a certain excitement associated with “back-to-school,” whether it’s a new first day outfit, reuniting with friends you didn’t see over the summer, gossiping about the new teacher, bragging about awesome summer vacations or settling back into the familiar school day routine.
Regardless of what your thoughts are on going “back-to-school,” one thing is for sure—we’ve all had them.
And everyone has a different way to prepare. Some students spend hours thinking about the perfect outfit or which seat to pick in their classes, while parents look up bus routes, lunch menus and school supply deals.
So, we want to know: What’s going through your mind on the first day of school? What do you do to prepare? Tell us in the comments.
