Montgomery County Planning Department is expected to give an update on plans for a bus rapid transit system Tuesday in Germantown.
An open house is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Upcounty Regional Services Center, Director Catherine Matthews said.
Bus rapid transit is similar to light rail, except it is operated on roadways. County planners are examining 16 corridors — including MD 355/Rockville Pike, US 29/Columbia Pike and MD 97/Georgia Avenue — and will analyze ridership potential and identify where dedicated lanes may be needed.
The public is invited to see where the service is proposed and offer input, Matthews said.
