From Cluttered to Light and Airy

Anyone interested in a therapeutic exercise? Today, I went to a client’s house for an appointment and we began by emptying her daughter’s bedroom of all accessories including stuffed animals, toys, books, artwork etc. Afterwards, we surveyed the now striped down version of the room and it was simply amazing just how cluttered we make our rooms and how refreshing uncluttered the space looked.

Our second chore was to rearrange the furniture in a more pleasing setup. Again, we stood back to take in the view of our new furniture arrangement.

Once we were pleased with the results, we began to slowly and carefully return selected accessories to the room. Placement was important, as were the chosen pieces. We added certain books and bookshelf pieces like piggy banks, dolls, photos and small objects.

The room was showing new life as we performed our last chore of rehanging a few pieces of artwork in new locations.

The object of this whole exercise was to create a less cluttered, yet finished looking space and the end result was a little girl’s room that felt light and airy, spacious and a bit more sophisticated. The clutter was gone and what remained was a pretty and inviting space.

This exercise can be applied to any room in your home. There’s no investment in any new stuff, but the results are worth thousands!
