Maryland Prosthetics Company Pledges Help for Boston Bombing Victims
Business pledges to pick up any costs not covered by insurance.
Dankmeyer Inc., a prosthetic company with offices throughout Maryland, has joined a coalition that pledges to cover out-of-pocket healthcare costs for Boston bombing victims that require prosthetics, according to a recent report by Baltimore CBS affiliate WJZ. Mark Hopkins, the clinical director for Dankmeyer, told WJZ, “If the folks who are coming back from Boston require care, require any type of prosthesis, we are going to make sure that they are going to get that.” One such victim is Timonium pre-school teacher Erika Brannock, who was at the marathon to cheer her mother and Heather Abbott, a 38-year-old Rhode Island woman whose left leg was amputated below the knee. Financial Sector Helped Montgomery County Add 25,000 Jobs in 2 Years
An outside company tallied the rate of job growth at 3.9 percent from 2010 to 2012, according to a report from county government.
Employers in the financial sector that included The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and Capital One led the list of companies that have added the most jobs in Montgomery County since 2010, according to a release from county government. The county's job growth rate from 2010 to 2012 was 3.9 percent, the release stated, higher than those of bordering jurisdictions Fairfax, VA (3.6 percent) and the District of Columbia (2.8 percent.) Overall, 24,670 jobs were added during the period. The data was provided by Economic Modeling Specialists International, a private firm that provides jobs data on the county level. FINRA, which operates four offices in Rockville, added more jobs than any other company, the county said, with 330 …

Germantown Wegmans Announces Opening Date
Grocer is accepting part-time positions for fall opening.
Montgomery County’s first Wegmans will open 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, in Germantown, the grocery chain announced Wednesday. The 123,000 square-foot store will anchor Seneca Meadows Plaza, near Interstate 270 exit 16. The Germantown store is Wegmans’ seventh in Maryland. The company recently announced that it is accepting applications for 350 part-time workers. Of the store’s 600, employees, 550 would be local hires. Hiring for full-time positions began in February.
