Introduction and Review: BlackRock's Vintage Holiday Hit

An introduction to "MY Mo-Co Life" and a review of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" at Black Rock.

In the way of introductions, I am in my what the magazines call The New Twenties. I will rant on any topic ranging from recipes and health, to why the privilege of driving should not be extended to everyone! Anyone who knows me is very used to this and would say I’m irrepressible, mostly because my friends and family are very kind and VERY used to me. So I thought I would give them a break and try to share my irrepressibility in an easy-to-read format. Lucky us! I thought I would take you along for the ride!

My daughter and I attended a performance at BlackRock Center for the Arts this weekend. I included my review below for your enjoyment. Tell me or better yet tell Black Rock what you think about this type of event becoming a recurrence. Like them on Facebook.

The best thing for me was in addition to this being a first-rate holiday event, it was something I could navigate with my mildly Autistic daughter. This event contained everything anyone, including my daughter, could want, but more importantly it could be enjoyed at her own pace. When moved to dance she could do just that. The arts are indeed for everyone, and I am always on the lookout for new avenues to travel with my daughter. Thank you BlackRock!

BlackRock Show A New Holiday Must!

This weekend BlackRock Center for the Arts held a screening of The crowd enjoyed the three-tiered event. First, ticket holders were treated to refreshments while making holiday crafts.

This was followed by the viewing of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” in BlackRock’s beautiful theater, which surely brought the kid out in all of those in attendance! Next, the guests were treated to the Eric Byrd Trio, which played the infamous jazz score from the movie originally composed by Vince Guaraldi. A highlight of the show was a special performance by Jason Miles Byrd, the young son of pianist Eric Byrd who sang, to everyone’s delight, “Christmas Time Is Here.”

The trio’s performance, as was the entire event, was a warm and family-friendly holiday tribute. I for one am looking forward to this event becoming an annual holiday tradition.
