Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union Makes a Bold [MOO]ve Against Hunger

Credit Union Launches Unique Social Media Cause Campaign to Benefit Manna Food Center

Germantown, MD – Beginning June 18 through July 31, 2014, Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union (MAFCU) will launch its first [MOO]ve Against Hunger social media charitable giving campaign.  Proceeds from this online campaign will go towards raising money to purchase locally grown steers from the Montgomery County 4-H for the benefit of the Manna Food Center in Montgomery County, Maryland.  Created with the help of social media partner CaféGive Social (www.cafegive.com), the [MOO]ve Against Hunger campaign enables participating donors to text in their donations and post a custom [MOO]ve Against Hunger image to their social media accounts, sharing their involvement with others.  MAFCU hopes to raise $10,000 with this initiative to purchase quality protein sources for approximately 2,000 Montgomery County neighbors in need.  To help achieve this goal, MAFCU will match each dollar for the first $5000 donated to the [MOO]ve Against Hunger campaign.

This is second year in a row that MAFCU will be donating steers to the Manna Food Center. “We [MAFCU] were so thrilled to help Manna Food Center provide a quality protein source to close to 400 families last year.  However, we wanted to do more,” said Marc Wilensky, VP of Marketing at the Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union.  “By joining forces with CaféGive Social, we hope that this innovative social media campaign will help us expand our reach into the community and inspire others to join us in helping Manna Food Center provide even more quality local beef to our neighbors in need.”

Donations to the [MOO]ve Against Hunger campaign can be made either online at www.mafcu.org or by  texting “BEEF” to 55155.  Text donors will receive a URL link directing them to a mobile donation page.   All donors will receive a social media thank you via MAFCU’s Facebook page, along with an online image of the [MOO]ve Against Hunger campaign poster that can be shared and reposted on personal social networks.

Steers for this campaign will be purchased at the Montgomery County 4-H Livestock Sale at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair on Friday, August 15, 2014.

All steers being purchased are locally and responsibly grown for the purpose of consumption by the Montgomery County 4-H Club.
