GALLERY: Rockville Lights the Night Against Cancer

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society brought cancer patients, survivors, families and friends to Town Center last week. Five-year-old leukemia survivor Rett Bush, of Germantown, served as an Honored Hero.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s National Capital Area Chapter held its first of three Light The Night Walks on Saturday, Oct. 6, in Rockville Town Center.

Teams of walkers raised money in the names of "Honored Heroes"—patients and survivors of blood cancer.

Five-year-old leukemia survivor Rett Bush, of Germantown, served as an Honored Hero for Saturday's walk.

Two more Light The Night Walks are planned for Saturday at Freedom Plaza in Washington, DC, and Oct. 20 at the Reston Town Center.

LLS-NCA has raised $1.5 million towards its goal of raising $2.2 million to fight cancer, The Gazette reported.

The national campaign raised more than $50 million across 185 communities last year, according to an LLS-NCA news release.
