Grab and Go Kids Planner: July 13 - 19

Grab your calendars! Here are this week's best bets for Germantown-area families.

Along with some great concerts for kids, this is a good week to gain a new skill: drawing manga, learning to DJ, investigating crime.  Enjoy this week's family-friendly activities for Germantown families:


This week, Leonardo brings his upbeat tunes to the concert stage. Take your blanket and sun block and arrive early to find a good space on the lawn. Concerts may be cancelled due to inclement weather.

PASSPORT TO FUN EVENTS
This summer program from Michaels travels the globe via crafts.  These make-it, take-it events are designed for ages 3 and older. This week, explore the art and culture of France (Thursday), the United Kingdom (Saturday) and Japan (Tuesday).

BE A DJ
Teens can get hands-on experience with a professional DJ.  Pizza and soft drinks will be served.

Hot weather got you down? Cool off with the water maze, bucket drops and spraying animals of the Splash Playground, then enjoy 18 holes of miniature golf. For more information, call 301-670-4680.

"DREAMTIME: TALES FROM DOWN UNDER" PUPPET SHOW
Kids in pre-K through grade 5 will enjoy the Barefoot Puppets' stories about Australian animals. Free tickets are available at the Germantown Public Library; pick them up prior to the show. First come, first served.

MANGA DRAWING WORKSHOP
Teens will enjoy this opportunity to discuss manga and create their own characters. Snacks will be provided.

SPROUT SUMMER CAMP 
Get up and get moving with this new program from Sprout. Enjoy activities, crafts and story time. This event is best for kids ages 2 to 8.

JUNIOR DETECTIVE DAY
Earn your junior detective badge! Gaithersburg police officers will be on-hand to teach participants about I.D. badges, fingerprinting, neighborhood safety and more.  This program is geared toward kids ages 6 to 14.  Reservations are required; call 301-258-6425 to reserve your child's space.

KIDS NIGHT
