Grab & Go Kids Planner: April 6 - 12

Mark your calendar! Here are Germantown's best bets for families this week.

Spring is in the air!  From spring-themed yoga to the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission's H2O Fest, these are Germantown's best bets for families this week:

KIDS YOGA FUN CAMP
Where/When: Paige One Yoga & Wellness Center in Damascus, 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Must pre-register by 5 p.m. today
Why Go: Your 4- to 9-year-old children can enjoy an afternoon of seasonally themed yoga, along with meditation, games, stories and art.   
Pricing: $30 per child (50 percent off for siblings).  Call 301-253-2004 to register.

ALL DAY OPEN GYM AT ROMP N' ROLL
Where/When: Romp n' Roll, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today
Why Go: This is a great place for babies and toddlers to burn off excess energy.  Romp n' Roll offers Open Gym daily during the week at various times, check their schedule for details. 
Pricing: $7 per child, free for members.  For children ages 3 months to 6 years.

Where/When: Seneca Valley High School, 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. 
Why Go:  Come and enjoy this lively musical, which has been described as "The Little Mermaid" crossed with calypso and set in the Caribbean.
Pricing: $8 presale, $10 at the door.


Where/When: 12900 Great Seneca Highway (just past Northwest High School), 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday  
Why Go:  Tour the wastewater treatment plant in honor of Earth Month.  Meet representatives from the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection, the Izaak Walton League, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and more.  Learn easy ways that you can help to protect our water supply.  There will be children's activities, including crafts made with recycled materials.

Where/When: Great Beginnings, 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday. 
Why Go:  Sometimes, you just need to chat with another parent.  This group, sponsored by Great Beginnings and NorthMetroDCMommies.com, is a place where you can talk with other parents while your baby or toddler meets new kids. 
Pricing: Free!


Where/When: BlackRock Center for the Arts, 1 p.m. Saturday.
Why Go: This kid-centric trio took home the  "Fan Favorite" and "Best Children's Artist" Washington Area Music Awards last year.
Pricing: $12 per seat. Purchase tickets online.

MADAMA BUTTERFLY
Where/When: Quince Orchard Public Library in Gaithersburg, Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m.
Why Go: This program by the Washington National Opera for Children is adapted for children ages 6 to 10.  Learn the culture of Japan through language, songs, costumes and more.  
Pricing: Free!   

KNACK EASTER CRAFTS
Where/When: Michaels in Milestone, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Why Go:  Kids ages 3 and older are invited to create Vivid Art with Crayola® Neon Explosion™ on Saturday and decorate an Easter pail on Sunday. 
Pricing: Free! 


Where/When: Montgomery College's Rockville Campus,  noon to 5 p.m. Sunday
Why Go: "Science is fun!" is the theme of this event, with plenty of hands-on activities.    
Pricing: Free! 

STEPPING STONES STORY TIME
Where/When: Damascus Public Library, Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.
Why Go:  Damascus Public Library is known for fun, interactive story times.  This event is for newborns through age 5 and their parents or caregivers; children ages 3 to 5 may attend by themselves.  For more information, call 240-773-9444.
