Grab & Go Kids Planner: June 1 - 7

Mark your calendar! Here are this week's best bets for Germantown area families.

Celebrate Maryland Free Fishing Days (Saturday, June 4 and June 11, and Monday, July 4), start your summer reading, enjoy a sensory-friendly film, splash at the water park and more!  Here are Germantown's best bets for families this week:

OPEN GYM AT ROMP N' ROLL
Kids ages 6 and younger can enjoy romping around this indoor playground.  Summer session starts on June 6, check the website or call 301-528-ROLL (7655) for open gym hours.  Sessions are two hours minimum.

When: times vary, weekdays
Price: $7 for the first child, $10 maximum for families (free for members).  Also offers a 10 session open gym pass for $50.


Enjoy singing and dancing at this special story time for preschool children and their caregivers.

PRESCHOOL PLAYDATE AT BOUNCE U
This bounce time is just for kids ages 5 and younger.  (Got older kids?  Consider the All Ages Open Bounce or Family Bounce Night.)  Call 301-515-5665 for more information and to make reservations.

SENSORY FRIENDLY FILMS: KUNG-FU PANDA 2
During these special movie showings, the lights are dimmed instead of turned off, the sound is lowered, and the usual "total silence" rule is not enforced.  
Where: AMC Loews Rio Cinemas 18 at the Washingtonian Center in Gaithersburg

WASHINGTON NATIONAL OPERA FOR CHILDREN
The entire family can enjoy this performance of "Hansel and Gretel."   This interactive program, designed for ages 4 to 10, gives kids an introduction to the opera.

SUMMER READING CHALLENGE KICKOFF AT BORDERS
Kids younger than 12 are invited to enjoy story time and games. They can pick up a flyer, take the challenge and read 10 books this summer to earn a free book.

SPLASH PLAYGROUND & MINI GOLF
Cool off with the 280 jet water maze, waterfall, bucket drops and more!  The park also has two 18-hole miniature golf courses.
