Grab & Go Kids Planner: June 29 - July 5

Grab your calendars! Here are this week's best bets for Germantown area families.

Happy Independence Day to all of our Germantown Patch families! 

On Monday, July 4, be sure to catch the Montgomery Village Independence Day parade.  Registration starts at 9 a.m., with the parade beginning at 10 a.m.  Following the parade, a community festival runs until 2 p.m. at the Apple Ridge Recreation Area, complete with carnival games and live music.  To learn more, call the Montgomery Village Foundation at 301-948-0110. 

On the evening of July 4, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will perform at Germantown Glory at the South Germantown Recreational Park's SoccerPlex.  Live music begins around 7:30 p.m. with fireworks starting around 9:15 p.m.  Admission and parking are free, but come early to find your parking space.  For more information, call 240-777-6820.

PICK-YOUR-OWN BLUEBERRIES
Ride the wagon to the farm fields and pick your fill of blueberries at $2.49 per pound.  You can bring your own bucket or purchase one there.  Blackberries might be ripe for the picking, too.

PASSPORT TO FUN EVENTS
This summer program from Michaels travels the globe via crafts.  These make-it, take-it events are usually designed for ages 3 and older.  Make a moose and maple leaf to celebrate Canada on Thursday, design a bead flag hat swap pin and a warrior shield in honor of the United States on Saturday, and make suncatchers and a foam pizza pin in honor of Italy on Tuesday.

UP, UP, AND AWAY!
Mad Science of Washington will present this demonstration about air and air pressure.  This program is designed for kids in grades K through 5.  No registration is required.

MEADOWSIDE MOVIES BY THE FIRE
Spend an evening around the campfire.  Bring your own chocolate, they'll supply the graham crackers and marshmallows.  Register at ParkPASS.org.  For more information, call 301-258-4030.

ALL AGES OPEN BOUNCES
