Grab & Go Kids Planner: June 8 - 14

Grab your calendars! Here are this week's best bets for Germantown area families.

Enjoy the outdoors?  Head to a nearby lake on Saturday to enjoy one of the two remaining Maryland Free Fishing Days in 2011.  Here are some other fun picks for this week:

TWILIGHT TOTS
Enjoy a performance by John Henry England, the Guitar Playing Man

Where: Lakefront Plaza, Washingtonian Center in Gaithersburg

When: 6 p.m. today 

Price: Free

OPEN GYM AT ROMP N' ROLL
Kids ages 6 and younger can enjoy romping around this indoor playground. Check the website or call 301-528-ROLL (7655) for open gym hours. Sessions are two hours minimum.

When: Times vary, weekdays 

Price: $7 for the first child, $10 maximum for families (free for members). Also offers a 10-session open gym pass for $50.

This week, enjoy lively children's sing-alongs with Yosi.  Be sure to bring a blanket and some sun block. Concerts may be cancelled due to inclement weather.

• NIGHT LIFE HAYRIDE

Dress for the weather, bring your flashlight and binoculars and search for noctural park animals. Meet at the park office. Call 301-924-2127 to register.

Enjoy an outdoor screening of "Monsters, Inc.", sponsored by the SVHS PTSA.  Feel free to bring a blanket, lawn chairs, and a picnic basket. Food and drink will also be available for purchase. Gates open at 7 p.m.

SPLASH PLAYGROUND AND MINI GOLF
Cool off with the 280-jet water maze, waterfall, bucket drops and more!  The park also has two 18-hole miniature golf courses.

When: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., open daily starting Saturday June 11 (runs through August 28) 

Price: $5 per person per activity (free Splash Playground admission for children younger than 2) or $7.50 for a splash and golf combo (one round of golf, all day at the splash playground).

WASHINGTON NATIONAL OPERA FOR CHILDREN
The entire family can enjoy this performance of "Hansel and Gretel."   This interactive program, designed for ages 4 to 10, gives kids an introduction to the opera.

PARENTS NIGHT OUT
Enjoy a night out while your children ages 4 to 11 enjoy pizza and drinks, games, a movie and lots of bouncy fun. Limited to 50 participants. Call 301-515-5665 for reservations.

This culinary class is designed for kids ages 9 to 12. Space is limited.  Sign up at customer service or call 301-258-9500. Got little ones?  Sign up for next Wednesday's 10:30 a.m. Half Pint Club for toddlers instead.
