Nearby: Montgomery Village Neighborhood Engulfed By Media Storm, Police Activity Friday

National and local media, FBI agents and county police converged on the Fairidge community to speak with an uncle of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects.

MONTGOMERY VILLAGE—When Richard Kaplan left his home in Montgomery Village's Fairidge community Friday morning, he couldn't have anticipated the scene upon his return.

"I came home from the dentist's office and I couldn't believe what was happening," the 62-year-old said.

Throngs of reporters from national and local media converged on his normally quiet neighborhood after reports that a resident of the community was the uncle of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects.

"I asked a neighbor and they told me what was going on. ... It's been going on since 10:30 [a.m.]," Kaplan said. "I'm surprised to see there aren't more neighbors out seeing what's going on."

FBI agents and Montgomery County police shut down neighborhood roads, which were lined with television satellite trucks as media members waited outside the home of Ruslan Tsarni.

Tsarni emerged from the house twice in the afternoon—once to speak with the media outside his home and later, with a police escort, to speak with a neighbor who returned to Tsarni's home with him.

Poolesville resident Justin Margot got word of the scene while at work at the Montgomery Village Golf Course. The 19-year-old used to live in the Fairidge community and wanted to see what was going on, he said.

"I was not expecting to see anything like this. ... This is the biggest story that's ever hit Montgomery Village," he said.
