Oops! Toddler Takes Tiny Tumble at White House Holiday Event

The little girl, of Germantown, had a close encounter with the Obamas' dog, Sunny.

A 2-year-old girl who attended a White House holiday ceremony honoring American service members took a fall Wednesday while meeting the first family's dog, Sunny, according to news reports. Her father said no tears were shed.

Ashtyn Gardner was participating in an arts-and-crafts event in the State Dining Room for the children of military personnel, including her father, Navy Lt. John Gardner. The family is from Mobile, AL, but currently lives in Germantown, according to CBS News.

Ashtyn is a dog lover, her father said.

"She was so excited!" he told CBS. "She went straight for them, reaching out to hug Sunny. The next thing you knew her shiny shoes were in the air!"

First lady Michelle Obama pulled on the Portuguese Water Dog's leash as Ashtyn lost her balance. Mrs. Obama comforted Ashtyn amid the scene caught on film and video.

"It was a heartwarming moment that we'll cherish forever," said the Navy lieutenant, according to CBS.
