Silver Spring's JC Hayward to Be Inducted Into County Human Rights Hall of Fame

Hayward was the first woman news anchor in the D.C. market.

JC Hayward, television news anchor on WUSA9 and resident of Silver Spring, will be one of eight Montgomery County residents inducted into the county Human Rights Hall of Fame on Oct. 28. 

Inductees are recognized by the county's office of human rights for "visionary leadership, outstanding achievements and altruism on the road to eliminating discrimination and advancing human rights," according to a release from county government.

Benjamin Jealous, president and CEO of the NAACP, will be the keynote speaker at the ceremony, to be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 at the BlackRock Center for the Arts, 12901 Town Commons Drive in Germantown.

Hayward was the first woman news anchor in the D.C. market, according to the release.          

Police Chief J. Thomas Manger is also among the inductees.
