U.S. Treasurer Visits Germantown School Thursday

U.S. Treasurer Rosie Rios will present models of the 1973 Congressional Gold Medal given to baseball great Roberto Clemente.

The treasurer of the United States is expected to visit a Germantown middle school Thursday, the U.S. Treasurer’s Office announced.

Treasurer Rosie Rios will present Roberto Clemente Middle School with plaster models of the 1973 Congressional Gold Medal honoring the achievements of the school’s namesake—Baseball Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente, a humanitarian activist.

Roberto Clemente Jr. is expected to attend, the Treasurer’s Office said in a news release.

Rios also is expected to tout the U.S. Mint’s latest educational initiative, Kids Baseball Coin Design Challenge. The contest encourages kids 13 and younger to create a coin design that captures the theme “What’s Great About Baseball.”
