A 5-year-old blood cancer survivor from Germantown will be among the honorees at a Light The Night Walk at Rockville Town Center on Saturday.
Survivor Rett Bush is expected to join his parents, Adam and Kristen, and older brother, Cal, at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society event.
Rett was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia in January 2011. While currently in remission, Rett's treatment will continue until 2013, according to event organizers.
Other honorees include Washington, DC resident and leukemia survivor Ashley Crews; leukemia survivor Brianna Garcia of Springfield, VA; non-Hodgkin lymphoma and leukemia survivor Rachel Kesselman of Arlington, VA; and six-year-old Peter Kress of Arlington, VA who is currently undergoing treatment for leukemia.
The Light the Night Walk is a fundraiser for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s National Capital Area Chapter. The walk begins at twilight, with walkers with illuminated red, white and gold balloons meant to symbolize they are not alone in their fight against cancer.
