Environmental Film Festival

The 19th annual Environmental Film Festival runs through March 27, 2011. Most venues are located in Washington, D.C., but some films are showing at the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring.

The focus of this year's festival is the relationship between energy and the environment.  Showing at over 60 venues across the region, the 150 films at this year's festival span a wide range of topics - from wind power to whale song.  If you live in Germantown and want to experience the festival, Strong recommends the films at Silver Spring's .

Tickets at AFI are $11 for general admission, $9 for seniors, $8.50 for AFI members and $7 for children 12 and under.  You can purchase tickets online or at the door.  The box office opens 30 minutes before the first screening.

Attendence is free at many of this year's films.  If you only have one day to enjoy the festival and you are looking for something less expensive, Strong suggests next Saturday, March 26, 2011.  The winners of the Wildscreen Festival will be shown at the National Museum of Natural History from noon to 5 p.m.
