FREE FAMILY BLOCK PARTY @ BlackRock

It’s our 10-year anniversary and BlackRock is having a party to celebrate! Grab a paintbrush, put on your dancing shoes, and get ready to be entertained. On Saturday, August 27, BlackRock Center for the Arts invites our friends and neighbors to discover and experience BlackRock at its FREE Family Block Party from 10am-2pm.

This free open house will feature sample art and music classes, art activities for the entire family, giveaways, a student art exhibit, a roving entertainer, artists from the Art League of Germantown, fun food, and more. Drawings will be held for BlackRock tickets.

Activities include:

  • Meet BlackRock faculty and Education Director
  • Sample classes for ages three to adult in acting, musical theater, ballet, jazz, tap, creative movement, hip-hop, violin, piano, cartooning, and watercolor.
  • Register for fall session; classes begin September 12.
  • Tour our new ceramics studio

Shows/Art Activities

  • Mark Lohr, family entertainer, will delight attendees with his juggling, magic, and more!
  • 10th anniversary community craft – decorate and hang a star from our outdoor stage to commemorate our special 10th year
  • Make your own instrument out of recycled materials
  • Jewelry, Pottery and Art for Sale from the Art League of Germantown
  • BlackRock Student Art Show
  • Learn about and purchase tickets for BlackRock’s fall 2011 season
  • Giveaways for all!
