Milkshake comes to the BlackRock stage

Baltimore-based kids' band Milkshake comes to the BlackRock stage.  Singer Lisa Mathews and guitarist Mikel Gehl front Milkshake, a bubbly contemporary band with a mission "to create great rock music for kids."

Founded in 2002 by Lisa Mathews and Mikel Gehl, whose previous group LOVE RIOT enjoyed high-profile song placements on prime-time television, Milkshake emerged from a crowded children's music scene to land songs and videos on Noggin, PBS Kids and Discovery Kids' Emmy-winning ToddWorld Cartoon.  With her trademark tutu and Frye boots, Lisa charmed as Mikel strummed, and before long they'd assembled a rocking band to bring their ambitious recordings to life onstage.

"Tickets are affordable for families at only $12 a ticket, and our cozy 210-seat Mainstage Theater is the perfect size for children to become fully immersed in the action and excitement of live music," said Charlotte Sommers, BlackRock executive director.
