Why Go: There will be ice sculptures, winter games and a chance to win Disney on Ice tickets. It's a great excuse to get outdoors - even if the weather is still on the chilly side!

Where/When: , 316 Kentlands Blvd, Gaithersburg. Friday, 4 p.m to 6 p.m

Why Go: What better way to get in the holiday spirit (or pick up a last-minute gift) than by attending this chocolate tasting at Whole Foods in Gaithersburg. Yum!

Where/When: , 19910 Frederick Rd, Germantown. Friday, 7:15 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Why Go: There's no way you're going to find a babysitter for less than $25 and, let's face it, it's probably too late to make a dinner reservation for Monday night. Why not beat the holiday crowds, and celebrate V-Day a few days early? As an added bonus, the Germantown branch of the Boys and Girls Club will play babysitter for only $25, providing your kids with games and a night of entertainment, while you and your valentine spend some much-needed time alone.

Where/When: , 620 Perry Pkwy, Gaithersburg. Friday, 6:30 p.m.

Why Go: This is the first in a series of wine dinners that the Hilton is hosting this year. On this occasion, chefs will be pairing food with wines from the Alamos Winery of Argentina. The  will include several courses including beef short ribs, lobster and a chocolate creme brulee. To make a reservation, call 301-591-9910 or 301-591-9911.

Where/When: , 10701 Rockville Pike, North Bethesda. Friday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: All three of these bands will be raising money for the Animal Rescue League and, according to theevent description, they are three of D.C.'s premier indie groups. If you need another reason, 16-ounce PBR beers will be able for $2 (yes, two bucks!) from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Pricing: Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.
