Little Bennett Campground Celebrates 30th Anniversary This Week

Events scheduled at Clarksburg campsite through Saturday, July 20.

Little Bennett Campground’s weeklong 30th anniversary celebration culminates with the Little Bennett Camperoo on Saturday with festivities ranging from chainsaw carving to pitch-a-tent contests, according to the county park’s homepage. The Camperoo will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Little Bennett Campground is part of Little Bennett Regional Park, which at 3,700 acres is the largest “natural gem” in Montgomery County, according to park officials.

Celebratory events for the campground’s 30th anniversary kicked off Monday night with campfire cooking. Other upcoming events include:

  • 6:30 p.m. Tuesday | Hidden Wonders Hike. Thirty- to 40-minute hike.
  • 6:30 p.m. Wednesday | Animal Encounters. Naturalist Glenn Rice can’t bring a black bear but he can bring a coyote.
  • 6:30 p.m. Thursday | Splish-Splash Stream Study. Wade into the waters of Little Bennett Creek as park naturalists show visitors how to better get in touch with local nature.
  • 8 p.m. Friday | Movie Under the Stars. Screening of the 1972 version of Dr. Seuss' “The Lorax.”
