Weekend Events: Fine Arts Festival, Farmers Market and More

3rd Annual Silver Spring Fine Arts Festival

  • Where:  880 Ellsworth Dr, Silver Spring
  • When:  Saturday, May 4, 10 a.m.
  • Description:  Visitors are invited to view art by painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelers, digital artists, glass, fiber and ceramic artisans; also artwork in mixed-media, metal, and wood.  
  • Cost: Free

3rd Annual Naptown barBAYq Contest & Music Festival

  • When:  Saturday, May 4, 11 a.m.
  • Description:  The Festival is a family affair and will feature food, libations, continuous live music from two stages, activities for all ages, arts and crafts vendors, and cooking demonstrations.

Big Nate the musical

  • Where:  7300 Macarthur Blvd, Glen Echo
  • When:  Saturday, May 4, 11 a.m.
  • Description:  Musical based on the comic strip and books by Lincoln Peirce.  Appropriate for ages 5 and up.

The Tempest presented by Rockville Little Theatre

  • Where:  603 Edmonston Dr, Rockville
  • When:  Friday, May 3, 8 a.m.
  • Description:  Shakespeare’s tale of love and forgiveness, The Tempest is presented by the Rockville Little Theatre.
  • Cost: $18

Six Flags Celebrates Cinco de Mayo

  • Where:  13710 Central Ave, Upper Marlboro
  • When:  Sunday, May 5, 10:30 a.m.
  • Description:  On May 5, 2013, Six Flags America will celebrate Cinco de Mayo, presented by Ortega, with a lineup of entertainment, games, prizes, food and a special Coasters After Dark ride time.
  • Cost:  $59.99

Free Open House Silver Spring Historical B&O RR station

  • Where:  8100 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring
  • When:  Saturday, May 4, 10 a.m.
  • Description:  Family event presented by Montgomery Preservation, Inc. and the Silver Spring Historical Society.  Admission to the building and public houses are free this weekend only.   
  • Cost:  Free

Silver Spring Nursery School’s 10th Annual Truck Touch

Cinderella

  • Where:  7300 MacArthur Blvd, Glen Echo
  • When:  April 25 – June 9, Thursdays and Fridays 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., Saturdays and Sundays, 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • Description:  An elegant production of the classic children’s favorite. Set in 17th century France.
  • Cost:  $10
