Germantown Wegmans Announces Opening Date

Grocer is accepting part-time positions for fall opening.

Montgomery County’s first Wegmans will open 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, in Germantown, the grocery chain announced Wednesday.

The 123,000 square-foot store will anchor Seneca Meadows Plaza, near Interstate 270 exit 16.

The Germantown store is Wegmans’ seventh in Maryland.

The company recently announced that it is accepting applications for 350 part-time workers. Of the store’s 600, employees, 550 would be local hires. Hiring for full-time positions began in February.

Is that 350 part time jobs with no benefits and low wages?

Maybe they could recruit from the panhandlers at our intersections!

Not me because I'll still shop at my Giant's in Neelsville. Best customer Service ever.

Wegmans is the absolute best! Thank goodness there will finally be decent shopping in this part of Maryland. Anyone who has ever lived in the New York area knows that shopping here is the absolute pits and Wegmans will provide true variety and quality goods in one stop shopping.

Yeah!!! I won't have to travel to Fairfax or Frederick anymore. Local Giant and Safeway's will lower their prices. It's about time. Hopefully MoCo won't cause any more delays!

Obviously the Wegmans haters work for the competing grocery stores. As a shopper, I'm glad to finally have Wegmans so the others have to step up their game.

Lisa, Wegman's is on the Top Ten Places to Work every year. Another reason to support them. Treat employees well and they will treat customers well! Their business model is the opposite of Walmart's. I personally hope Walmart loses customers when Wegman's opens!
