Potomac Moms Tout Sandwich Bag Innovation

As you start checking items off on your back-to-school shopping list, you might want to consider this handy way to go green and save some green at the same time.

Lunchskins, developed by Potomac residents Cris Bourelly and Kirsten Quigley, are re-usable lunch sacks that parents can use to pack their kids' lunch. An alternative to disposable plastic lunch bags, pop a Lunchskin in the dishwasher after use and save money on all that plastic packaging.

You and your kids can also feel good about the positive impact you'll be making on the environment. Under the slogan, "reduce your daily lunchprint," the company has saved more than 120 million plastic baggies from landfills, according to the company's website.

Bourelly and Quigley, along with the company's creative director, Jennie Stoller Barakat, are known as the "3 Green Moms." 

Their product has proven to be wildy popular both locally and around the globe, and Lunchskins are even available for purchase at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Lunchskins are available in "snack," "sandwich" and "sub" sizes, and come in fun colors and designs like "navy shark," "red bird," "black soccer," "red apple" and "green lizard." They cost $7.95 for the smallest size and $10.95 for the largest Lunchskin.
