Speak Out: Will You Boycott Applebee's and Papa John's?

The franchise owners of some popular chains are making big changes to offset costs of Obamacare, but it's causing some customers to rethink which businesses they'll support.

Several franchise owners of popular restaurant chains say that the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare, will increase costs for small business owners—and in order to offset costs they are adding surcharges to bills, threatening layoffs and more.

Apple-Metro CEO Zane Tankel, who owns more than 40 Applebee's chains in the metro New York area, slammed Obamacare on Fox Business Network, Huffington Post reported, stating he would not hire any more employees and may cut the hours of current employees.

According to the Huffington Post, John Metz, a Florida-based Denny's franchise owner, is adding a 5 percent surcharge to customers' bills to offset costs for healthcare.

But a Twitter campaign has already begun against Papa John's after CEO John Schnatter’s said the chain would increase prices to offset costs related to the  Affordable Care Act. Protestors are asking Americans to support local pizza chains over Papa John's.

So what do you think? Will you boycott area franchises of these restaurants for their corporation's actions against employees and customers? Or you think that small business owners are suffering due to Obamacare? Tell us in the comments.

How to actually FIX health insurance (HI) availability / affordability: 1) Make HI policy a personal policy like car insurance is: YOU buy it, it follows YOU when you change jobs, 2) Disallow INS refusal based on Pre existing conditions, pay higher premiums, BUT 3) Allow each person a 50% FED Income tax CREDIT for the insurance s/he buys That is if it costs $1000 / mo. for the INS you need, you pay $500 / mo LESS fed tax 4) Make (3) depend on income (adjusted for inflation so we don't get stuck with ahother AMT alternative mininmum tax, debacle). Say the % Tax Credit is 100% for a person making $25k/yr and diminishes to 0% by (pick a number) say, Income = $2 mil / yr 5) Allow only one "tweak" of one parameter in (1) thru (4) every 4 years & must pass by 60% of House, 60% of Senate and signed by President

I will keep eating at Applebees and won't tip anymore. And order pizza and wont tip delivery, and will use retailmenot on $25% 40% 50% off codes..SO in all, I am not out anything. Their employees are. Then they will quit, and they will have to change their ways...

Of course I won't boycott a firm for doing what is necessary to survive in this environment. I will not purchase Obamacare and if they try and force me I will quit working and let others pay for me. I will not be forced by a tyrannical government to work for them. BWL

No I will not boycott. I am not for obamacare. I do think that applebees and papa johns are doing the right thing. Oh and by the way, I do not have insurance. Just because someone does not support obamacare does not mean that they are insured. That's bullshit. And I know plenty of people who are anti obamacare and anti :bama and also do not have any kind of insurance.
