Tech Firm Unveils New Facility in Germantown

Ribbon cutting held Wednesday for Digital Receiver Technology Inc., a subsidiary of Boeing

A ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday celebrated the opening of a Boeing subsidiary’s new facility at Milestone Business Park in Germantown.

Digital Receiver Technology Inc. (DRT) built a five-story, 162,000-square-foot building at 12410 Milestone Center Drive. The site is expected to be used primarily for government contract work, Patch has reported.

DRT develops wireless surveillance products, primarily for intelligence operations of the Defense Department and Department of Homeland Security. The company was acquired by Boeing in December 2008 and now operates within Boeing’s Integrated Defense Systems’ Network & Space Systems unit.

Boeing officials told Patch last year that the current 400 DRT employees would be transferred to the new building.

Company officials at the site’s ground breaking in June 2011 said that the project cost an estimated $46.1 million. The building is owned by Multi-Employer Property Trust and was developed by Trammell Crow Company.

Trammell Crow also was involved in developing the nearby Century Technology Campus project.

During last year’s ceremony, Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett said the project would help position Germantown as a hub for high-end technology businesses and would help build a case for the need for projects like the Corridor Cities Transitway, a mass-transit system that would connect Clarksburg to Shady Grove.
