What happened in Germantown over the past seven days?

Although they were no match for the massive brush fires that swept through some 50 acres in Germantown and North Potomac , firefighters were called to Germantown twice this week to respond to . County Executive Ike Leggett and Fire Chief Richard Bowers held a on Thursday night, explaining they still were unclear what started the fire on Feb. 19.

In other public safety news, police are searching for a named Laura Martinez. The missing 15-year-old girl was last seen at her home on the 20000 block of Cabana Drive on Monday around 11:30 p.m.

Police are also asking the public for help in who is believed to be responsible for four thefts from vehicles in local two daycare centers over the last three months.

In sports, the team was defeated by Quince Orchard on Monday, crushing the team's chances to continue in the state playoffs. The team fell to Gaithersburg on Saturday.
