Arrests Made in Damascus Burglaries

Two men charged in separate burglaries dating back to December

Two arrests have been made in separate burglaries in Damascus, including repeat offenses reported at a local church, Montgomery County police said Wednesday.

Steven Tyler Haines, 19, of the 11400 block of Mountain View Drive in Damascus, was charged with three counts of second-degree burglary, three counts of theft and malicious destruction of property, according to court records accessed online.

The charges stem from a spate of burglaries and thefts dating back to December, including three burglaries reported at Pleasant Grove Church, at 11225 Mountain View Road, on Dec. 9, Feb. 2 and Feb. 19.

Police said Haines was linked to at least three burglaries in the 11300 and 11400 block of Mountain View Road.

A warrant was issued for Haines on Feb. 28. He was arrested on March 24 on charges stemming from a March 23 burglary. Police said he’s being held on separate $100,000 bail for the March 23 charge and the prior burglary charges.
