Beer Truck Spill Rattles Thursday Morning Commute

A beer truck spill snarled northbound Interstate 270 traffic for seven hours, state highway officials said.

Cleanup crews spent nearly seven hours cleansing the highway of beer, fuel and wreckage after a tractor trailer overturned Thursday morning, spewing its contents across the traffic lanes of Interstate 270, near the Frederick County, Md., line.

No serious injuries were reported, though the beer truck driver, an adult female, was taken to the hospital for treatment, a Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service spokeswoman told Patch.

Police said the truck struck a large piece of debris in the roadway, causing it to roll over and collide with the guardrail near the Old Hundred Road exit, shortly after 4 a.m.
