Female Killed in Dickerson Crash Tuesday

Police: Germantown man hospitalized, remains in serious condition

A fiery crash in Dickerson early Tuesday left an unidentified female driver dead and a Germantown man in serious condition, Montgomery County Police said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene; police did not reveal her identity pending notification of family.

Front-seat passenger Oscar Armando Chavez Martinez, 23, of the 12900 block of Boggy Trail Way, was flown to Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with life-threatening injuries.

Police and emergency personnel responded to Dickerson Road and Mount Ephraim Road at around 12:45 a.m.

According to investigators, a 2002 Honda Civic traveling East in the 22200 block of Dickerson Road left the road and struck a railroad bridge overpass. Bystanders were able to rescue Martinez, but the car burst into flames before the female could be rescued.

The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation. Witnesses are asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435. Callers may remain anonymous.
