UPDATED: Morning Power Outage Zaps Electricty For 1,600 Homes

A Pepco spokesman said power was out for about 90 minutes, due to a faulty breaker.

Updated (2:47 p.m.) ---- Power has been restored to nearly 1,675 Pepco customers in Germantown, after an outage zapped electricity for 90 minutes Wednesday morning.

The outage began at around 9 a.m., when a circuit feeder serving customers in Gunners Lake area was locked by a faulty breaker in Quince Orchard, said Pepco spokesman Clay Anderson.

The power was restored at 10:37 a.m., Anderson said.

Original --- A faulty circuit breaker has left 1,672 Germantown homes without electricity Wednesday morning.

The power has been out since 9 a.m. and is expected to be restored by noon, said Pepco spokesman Clay Anderson.

"That's our preliminary assesment," Anderson told Patch.

Anderson said that work crews were on the way and that more information would become available later.
