Weekend Road Closure: Frederick Road-Ridge Road Intersection

Resurfacing work continues until 5 a.m. Monday

Starting Friday night, part of the intersection at North Frederick (MD 355) and Ridge (MD 27) roads in Germantown will be closed for the weekend due to resurfacing work.

State highway officials said the road will close at 8 p.m. and is expected to open by 5 a.m. Monday.

Southbound traffic on Frederick Road will be diverted to westbound Clarksburg Road (MD 121), to southbound Interstate 270 and then to eastbound Ridge Road.

Local access for residents will be maintained through the entire project.

The resurfacing work is part of a $1.2 million Maryland State Highway Administration project, which calls for grinding the existing pavement layers and using a special high-strength concrete mix called “whitetopping.”

According to the SHA, the weekend closures will provide crews time to remove all layers of pavement, apply whitetopping to the roadway and allow for proper hardening of the material before Monday morning.

The next phase of work is scheduled on northbound Frederick Road, between Henderson Corner Road and Ridge Road during the weekends of June 29 and July 6.
