Visions for Vacancies: Borders

It’s been almost a year since Borders announced it would be shuttering its bookstores, leaving Germantown residents without a place in town to buy books.

For some, the death of the beloved bookshop signified what was already known: Brick-and-mortar bookstores had long ago lost their mojo; it’s time to join the e-book revolution. Other bibliophiles blamed the rise of the e-book for the chain’s demise and felt a world without paper books was the beginning of the end for print publishers.

Regardless of where you fall in the e-book vs. corner bookstore debate, the Borders bookstore at Milestone Center is no longer. The Germantown Borders has bitten the dust.
