Polarization: The Present State of Congress

The

Honorable Vic Fazio, former congressman from California, will discuss

the present state of Congress, comparing it to the 20 years he spent in

the House. He will examine how it has changed, why it has changed, and

how the polarization of parties results in the dysfunction of Congress.

Mr.
Fazio served for 20 years as a member of Congress, representing

California's third district. He was appointed to the House

Appropriations Committee, serving as a subcommittee chairman or ranking

member for 18 years. He was also a member of the Armed Services, Budget,

Ethics, and House Administration committees.
