Harvest Festival

The Harvest Festival provides people of all ages a
taste of farm life from the 1850s to present through a day of hands-on
activities and experiences on a working farm. The Agricultural History Farm
Park is situated on 455 acres of land in Montgomery County's Agricultural
Reserve, and serves as a historic farm site as well as a modern farming
activity center. This year's festival will feature live music, food and a wide
selection of family-friendly activities (many are free), including: Live
performances from Cider Press Boys and The Patuxent Partners, Storytelling by
Dogwood Dogs 4H Club, Working sheep dog demonstrations, Sack races and pumpkin
rolling races, Log sawing, Potato scramble, Threshing and hay baling, Field
machinery demonstrations, Blacksmithing, spinning and weaving, and woodcarving
demonstrations. Additional activities will include pumpkin painting, chestnut
roasting, marble making, scarecrow making, and a corn maze. Attendees can visit
with live farm animals, such as chickens, pigs and goats, learn about antique
farm equipment, take part in gardening talks and demonstrations and participate
in an archaeological site dig to see how professional archaeologists uncover
secrets of the past. Food and beverages will be available for purchase,
including ice cream and bake sale items. The parking fee for Harvest Festival
is $10 per car (cash only).
